The Sprint 16v twincam engine is a powerfull conversion designed for massive mid range torque, it has been developed for competing against modern performance engines now being used in the rally/sprint events. With the correct set up we have seen 170 BHP giving Gurston down hillclimb competator Jim White a temendus 2008 season enabling him to break a 8 year old lap record. this engine can be used with the traditional weber carbs and distributor or throttle bodys with full engine management.

1293-1400cc 16v TWINCAM RALLY/SPRINT

CYLINDER BLOCK: The block is fully prepared to accept the twincam cylinder head, chemically dipped, Off-set bored and plateau honed to a finish size, the centre main cap is machined for a heavy duty 1" steel strap, the block is re-surfaced to ensure a perfect head gasket seal, Then fitted with new VP2 lead copper jackshaft bearings. All threads are checked and re-tapped then after a three stage final build clean the block is painted and fitted with new oilways & core plugs.

CRANKSHAFT: The crankshaft is re-ground to its next size, X/Drilled, wedged, hardened & dynamic balanced, then a final micro polish to the journals is applied. fittedwith new competition lead copper bearings.

CONRODS: Conrods are checked for alignment, lightened, fitted with new ARP bolts and nuts. A full end to end balance is performed.

PISTONS: A set of 16v pocketed cast Omega pistons are fitted.

JACKSHAFT: A jackshaft is fitted to drive the high capacity steel backed oil pump along with cam belt drive gears. A modified trigger damper is also used if DTA is required.

GEARBOX: The gearbox is completely stripped to a bare casing, and chemically dipped removing all traces of internal oil staining and external paint. The gearbox is then fully prepared ensuring all gasket surfaces are flat and all threads are good. The gearbox is then built with a S/Cut close ratio gear set, S/cut drop gears. new double roller bearing, single roller bearing, needle roller bearings, high grade central oil pick up pipe, ATB LSD diff unit and final drive. (the final drive ratio will be decided on application).

Transfer gears are reshimmed on the idler and primary to the correct tolerence with new input spigot bearing.

FLYWHEEL: The flywheel assembly is an ultra light billet steel and fitted with a new A.P heavy duty bonded clutch plate and AP grey cover then dynamically balanced with the front pulley.

CYLINDER HEAD: Sprint cylinder head is fitted which is fully gasflowed polished and fully port bored by 2.5mm to accept a pair of weber 45DCOE's or throttle bodys, using STD size back cut valves and 3 angle valve seats to gain maximum air flow. Silicon bronze valve guides with full tapers to also aid air flow. Combustion chambers are then balanced. The head gasket face is then machined to achive the desired compression. On the final stage all the valves are hand lapped and seat pressure is tested and it is cleaned and assembled using the required valve springs, MSPD sprint camshafts, tappets are set, alloy vernier timing gears, performance cam belt & tensioner.

ANCILLERIES: Also included is the option of ancilleries below:

1) A pair of 40DCOE weber carbs with filters & 1" alloy manifold, Custom dizzy with high compression leads & spark plugs, 4-2-1 Maniflow Ex manifold.

2) A set of throttle bodys with filters, DTA self programing ECU & custom wire loom, high compression leads & spark plugs, 4-2-1 Maniflow Ex manifold.

The finished unit is painted in a choice of  red, blue, black or BMC green and assembled using plated external nut and bolts.

 Test bed run for approx 2 hours with a full diagnostic report. A full dyno session can be added for an extra £450
